Ahoy mates! It’s time to weigh anchor and set sail as we celebrate “International Talk Like a Pirate Day”, on September 19th.
Nothing too complicated, other than tiring your wind pipes. This day was created by two friends who, in the midst of shouting words of encouragement while playing racquetball, starting talking to each other as pirates. They decided to create a special day (on one of their ex-wife’s birthday) to speak with a Western Country accent, with a few “Arr”s and “Aye”s thrown in for measure. When they mentioned this special day to a popular humor columnist, who then published it in a newspaper, suddenly people started to talk like pirates on that day. It’s now a popular day for all to celebrate.
For this week’s episode, we’ll be playing tracks from video games that have pirates: a promising lad who wishes to be a pirate, a privateer-turned-pirate who then becomes an assassin, and a former Yakuza member who decides to crew a bunch of pirates. Of course, we got covers and remixes to go along with these original tracks.
