Today we’re celebrating Europe Day… wait, wasn’t Europe Day on May 5th?
Yes, and yes, but hear me out.
This date for Europe Day, May 9th, celebrates the Schuman Declaration, established on May 9, 1950, between France and Germany to pool their resources in coal and steel, so as to make war impossible between themselves. Later, in 1993, the partnership has led the foundation of the European Union, to ensure economic synergy and political cooperation.
Now, as for May 5th, that date was when the Council of Europe was founded in 1949 to be an observer of established standards of government and to provide technical support for these standards.
So, I suppose this is a double-celebration of Europe Day.
We’ll be playing tracks from video games that take place in Europe: a search for a long-lost relative to finalize the takeover of a family-run toy factory, a “house” that has become a laboratory of the dead, and hunter who can remix memories as needed. Of course, there will be covers and remixes to follow these original tracks.
Fly the flag of your favorite European country, enjoy some European treats, and enjoy these tracks…
