The tele. The Console. The Idiot Box. The Boobtube. The Telly. The Big Screen. The Tube.

If you recognize any of these terms, most likely you’ve watched the television while growing up, that electronic box with cables running behind it and sometimes is attached to a pair of antennae (aka rabbit ears).

Today we are celebrating World Television Day, in honor of the TV. Proclaimed by The United Nations General Assembly back in December 1996 on this day, this day is to recognize the impact that the television has had on the world, covering many social and economic major issues and influencing many decisions in times of conflict and threats to peace and security. It is a source of information the reports locally, nationally, and worldwide, sometimes live. It is a place of entertainment that has become appointed time for family and friends for certain programs. It is a device that shows history in the making.

We’ll be playing tracks from video games that feature the television: a cop finding the killer of his family, a teenage student drawn into another world, and another teenager saving the world with a monster and a prince. We’ve also got remixes to follow each track in the episode.

Sit back in the chair or couch, reach for the remote, and turn up the volume…
